CAMBRIDGE — The applicant who was seeking a zoning change from R-3 residential to B-1 business in order to put in a storage facility on Wolf Road in rural Geneseo has withdrawn his request, according to a spokeswoman for the Henry County zoning office.

The county's planning committee on Monday voted 8-0 to find the project inconsistent with the county's comprehensive plan, and the plan could have gone forward to the zoning board of appeals Wednesday night had it not been withdrawn.

Nearby resident Brent Starkey of Rustic Acres subdivision said he was glad three residents got to say their piece at Monday's planning committee meeting. The county zoning office also received a letter from an attorney and a petition signed by 120 people.

"I would think that that's how the process would work," he said. "Everybody gets their opinion. It looked very fair and accurate to me."
