CAMBRIDGE -- Incumbent trustee Richard Waterman is the new mayor of Cleveland, according to Tuesday's unofficial election totals.

Mr. Waterman received 59 votes to Richard Lindell's 36.

Currently treasurer of Cleveland, Mr. Lindell offered tepid congratulations to Mr. Waterman following the results. "He can have it," he said. "I'm up to my elbows with the fighting. The fighting was getting old."

He said he would be closing down his work as treasurer and then "never coming back."

Mr. Waterman didn't return calls seeking comment.

The apparent winners for trustees were Daniel Boggs with 73 votes and Steve Ballegeer with 52 votes; however, the determination of a third trustee may wait, as both newcomers Brian Davis and Taren Komadina received 47 votes each.

Incumbent Chad White, the son of outgoing mayor Jim White, received 39 votes.

Results are unofficial, and county election commissioner Barb Link noted she will have to wait 14 days to see if any additional eligible absentee ballots arrive.
