Ruth A. Rountree, 80, of New Windsor, died Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Aledo Rehab & Health Care Center.
Visitation is Wednesday, April 3, from 5-7 p.m. at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Per her wishes, there are no services. Memorials may be left for Aledo Rehab & Health Care Center.
Ruth Anne was born April 7, 1932, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a daughter of Arthur and Helen Coleman. She married Edwin Burgess Rountree on Dec. 17, 1955. He died Dec. 30, 1992.
Mrs. Rountree was a homemaker and wonderful mother. She was a talented artist, mostly working in pastels. Ruth entered her artwork at shows in several states, winning many Best of Show and first places. Her talents were also proven in sewing, knitting and cross stitch. She had a deep love for horses and dogs.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, Thomas (Elaine) Rountree, Milan, Debra Slavish and Patricia (Farmer) Miller, both of New Windsor; 18 grandchildren, Danyelle, Alexis, Travis, Ruth Ann, Anna, Kira, Wyatt, Kate, Robert, Tia, Jennifer, Jaymie, Nick, Randi, Ruth Anne, Elizabeth, Attilissa and Drexel; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and three sisters, Pinky Lee, Michigan, Barb Bennett, Arizona, and Fannie Mae Bashaw, Nevada.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Mary Jeanette.
