Moline graduate Dakota Bacus and Rockridge graduate Tyson Blaser officially learned their minor-league baseball assignments for this season on Saturday.
Bacus, an Oakland Athletics prospect, will pitch for the Midwest League Beloit Snappers. A ninth-round pick in last June's draft, Bacus pitched compiled a 1.20 ERA with 35 strikeouts and five walks for the rookie-level Arizona League Athletics.
He appeared in 18 games and made one start. Bacus said he will be a starter for the Class A Snappers.
"I was anxious to go play," Bacus said. "I had a feeling this is where I was going to end up. I'm not bummed about it. I've got to take every opportunity I can get and do my thing."
Blaser was assigned to the Eastern League Trenton Thunder. This is Blaser's first appearance at the Double-A level.
In two professional seasons, Blaser, who was signed as a catcher by the New York Yankees in 2011, has a .296 batting average in 267 plate appearances.
"I'm excited to be heading to Double-A," Blaser said. "That was my goal heading into spring training this year and it's great to have that come to fruition."
Both Bacus and Blaser will have their season openers on Thursday.
