Coal Valley Mayor: Rick Lasek
Comment on this story
NAME: Rick Lasek
ADDRESS: 507 E. 9th Ave. Ct., Coal Valley, IL 61240
OCCUPATION: Residential loan officer
FAMILY: My wife, Kimberly, is a school teacher in the Moline School District, and I have three daughters, Amanda, Abbey and Chloe.
EDUCATION: B.B. in marketing from Western Illinois University
POLITICAL PARTY: Coal Valley Conservative Party
OFFICE SOUGHT: Coal Valley Mayor
PRIOR OFFICE: Coal Valley Trustee for six years
WHY RUNNING: I feel I am the best candidate to keep Coal Valley on a solid financial foundation, and I will continue to work with our residents and village staff to make Coal Valley a fantastic place to call home.
KEY ISSUE: Financial Responsibility. As a village trustee, I have worked closely with our mayor, my fellow trustees, and our village staff to keep Coal Valley in a solid financial position. While other communities are having financial problems, we have spent wisely and have responsibly created reserves that will allow us to maintain our sound financial position.
COMMENTS: I helped establish a TIF District to promote economic development, which has provided our community with the new Happy Joe's/Rudy's, Country Style, Mulligan's Valley Pub, Subway, and Dollar General locations. I supported and promoted the negotiation of a single source waste disposal provider that has saved residents $300-$500 per year. I am very proud of what our village board has accomplished over the last six years, and I very am excited about what we will accomplish in the future.
