Laura M. Lessman
Laura M. Lessman, 100, of Rock Island, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at St. Anthony Nursing and Rehabilitation, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 29, at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be from noon until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rock Island Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the St. Anthony's Activity Fund. Online condolences may be expressed at hodgsonfuneralhome.com.
Laura was born March 21, 1913, in Eliza Township, Ill., daughter of Alva and Mary Hayes Howard. Laura Howard was united in marriage to Floyd W. Lessman on April 28, 1934, in Muscatine. He preceded her in death in September 1980.
Laura was a homemaker and loved to play bingo and dance. She volunteered as an election judge for Rock Island County. She also was a former member of Farmall Club, Moline.
Those left to honor her memory include daughter, Nancy Brimberg, Rock Island; six grandchildren, Jim (Astrid) Wyers, Gregory (Lisa) Wyers, Robert (Tracy) Wyers, Deanna Wright, Don (Angel) Brimberg and Kelley (Charles) Calkins; 17 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; grandson-in-law, Charles Simmons; and brother, Kenneth Howard, Muscatine. Laura was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sheri Simmons; grandson, Michael Snyder; and her three brothers and one sister.
