Dayton Ince gave himself every chance to crown himself as the monarch of Illinois boys' basketball 3-point shooting.

However, the Kewanee senior guard will have to settle for being the crown prince of the 2013 Country Financial Three-Point Showdown after falling in a King of the Hill shootout to Josh Ruggles of West Chicago's Wheaton Academy Saturday afternoon at the Peoria Civic Center.

Both Class 2A champion Ince and 3A winner Ruggles buried 11 trifectas in regulation to set up the shootout, leaving fellow competitors Brenden Dauphin of Hanover River Ridge (1A) and Bennet Schimmelpfennig of Bradley-Bourbonnais (4A) behind.

Ruggles then hit three shots in each of his shootout rack, while Ince could only muster two treys per rack to settle for runner-up status.
