Joan Lois Nerdahl, 83, of Moline, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Hope Creek, East Moline.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 18, at Rafferty Funeral Home, 2111 1st St. A, Moline. Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials can be made to First Congregational Church, Moline.
Joan was born Sept. 27, 1929, in Moline, the daughter of Gustaf and Hilda Nelson Bjorkman. She married Michael C. Nerdahl on June 7, 1952, in Moline. He preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 1989.
Joan was a graduate of Augustana College, majoring in education. She was a first-grade teacher for Thomas Jefferson School and Logan School, Moline.
Joan was a life master with American Contract Bridge League (ACBL). She was very active at First Congregational Church, Moline, serving with the card ministry, and she was a volunteer reading aide in the first-grade at Logan School through the First Congregational Church Volunteer Program. Joan also served on the Red Wagon Day Care Board of Directors.
She enjoyed playing bridge, bingo and her lunches with her cousins and high school friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Sue (Kevin) Coopman, Moline; son, Todd (Lori) Nerdahl, Davenport; grandchildren, Margret (Tim) Foster and Aaron Coopman and fiancee, Brittany Ince; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Kelsea, Macy and Morgan; and cousin, Nelson Peterson, Moline.
