David L. Kistler, 81, of Aledo, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Genesis Medical Center, Aledo.
A Mass of Christian Burial is today at 11:15 a.m. at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Aledo. Burial with military honors is at Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is today from 9 to 11 a.m. at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Memorials may be made to the Children's Therapy Center or American Legion Post No. 121, Aledo.
David Lee was born on Aug. 13, 1931, in Buffalo Prairie, to Delos and Helen Baker Kistler. He was united in marriage to Mary Rush on Oct. 20, 1951, in Aledo. Dave served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Dave was a self-employed carpenter, building many homes in the Mercer County area. He was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church and the American Legion Post No. 121. Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and stock car racing. He loved his family, especially all his girls.
Dave is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Dan, Aledo; granddaughter, Carrie (Kevin) Shride, Burlington, Iowa; great-granddaughters, Quinci, Averi, Marli and Kirsten; sister-in-law, Judy Kistler, Aledo; niece, Sandy Bertleson (Terry Hank), Aledo, and her children, Derek and Jackie; special friend, Brian Engle, Aledo; and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Rodney; and a grandson-in-law, Mike McIntire.
