Dr. Rhonda Sowards helps senior Eric Pease stitch close an incision on a pig foot as classmate Allison Lattanzio, left, leans in for a closer look during a suture workshop at Augustana College in Rock Island on Saturday. The hands-on seminar helped about 60 college students entering the medical field learn how to use a variety of techniques to stitch actual flesh. Trinity Regional Health System donated the medical supplies, Hy-Vee supplied the pig feet and Dr. Sowards was one of several doctors who loaned their expertise to the students for the afternoon.
