With eight boys' basketball standouts from area Class 1A and 2A schools set to compete this weekend in Peoria for their own piece of state hardware, a trio of large-school shooters get their chance for a March Madness weekend.

Moline's Derrick Stabler and United Township's Raymond Terronez will join fellow Western Big 6 shooter Martin Kvitle of Quincy in Friday's 6 p.m. 4A Pekin Sectional round of the Country Financial Three-Point Showdown. In Class 3A, Geneseo's Luke Snyder is the lone local individual taking part in Friday's Peoria Sectional finals at Bradley University.

Stabler, a senior forward, led the quartet that advanced from last Friday's United Township Regional by knocking down 11 treys in 15 attempts. Terronez, a junior, drained nine of his shots to round out the four-man field. Kvitle advanced from the Granite City Regional.

Snyder, a junior guard, moved on from the Galesburg Regional with eight 3-balls. All local shooters will compete for the right to advance to next Thursday's state preliminaries at the Peoria Civic Center's Carver Arena.
