Verna Louise Higdon, 56, of Corydon, Ind., formerly of Illinois, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Ind.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home, Corydon. The Rev. Douglas Finney will officiate. Burial will be at Cana United Methodist Church Cemetery near Paris Crossing, Ind. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center (Humane Society of Rock Island County), 724 W. 2nd Ave., Milan, IL 61264.
There will be a memorial service at a later date in the Quad-Cities.
She was born May 19, 1956, in Moline, to the late Fred H. and Jewell M. Crow Higdon.
She was an elementary school teacher at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School in Milan, was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Moline, the National Education Association, was a Mary Kay Lady and attended the First Congregational Church in Moline.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Phillip Higdon.
Survivors include her brother, the Rev. James Higdon (Karen), Corydon.
