Augie hosts senior hoops stars on March 25

The Iowa-Illinois Senior All-Star Basketball Showcase returns to Augustana College's Carver Center for the 10th time later this month.

Organizers announced on Monday the 14th annual event is scheduled for March 25.

The Showcase features the top high school senior boys' and girls' from both sides of the Mississippi River played under college rules.

The girls' game starts at 5:30 p.m. with a 3-point contest for both boys and girls at halftime. A dunk contest will take place during halftime of the boys' game, which tips off at approximately 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5.

Illinois won both games last spring, and owns leads of 10-3 in the girls' series and 7-6 in the boys' matchup.

Organizers are in the process of inviting the area's top 12th graders, with some RSVP's already in for the girls' teams, but full rosters won't be announced until a later date.

The Illinois coaches are Black Hawk's Darren Bizarri (boys) and Karen Boyd (girls). The Iowa coaches are Ashford's Oliver Drake (boys) and Amy Egan (girls).
