Wanda A. Heber, 82, formerly of Rock Island, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to either the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
Wanda was born on June 26, 1930, in Reynolds, a daughter of Elra E. Pegg Sr. and Opal McAfee Pegg. She married Max Heber on March 26, 1949, in Davenport. He preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 1994.
In earlier years, Wanda was a cashier at A & F Market. She later worked at McCabe's Department Store and lastly was a teacher's aide with the Rock Island School District.
She was a longtime member and past president of the PTA and enjoyed volunteering for many years for numerous school activities. She enjoyed playing cards and traveling with Max during their retirement.
Surviving are her children (and spouses), Michael Heber, Rock Island, Patti (Lenny) Brozovich, Milan, Linda Heber, Rock Island, and Jeff (Linda) Heber, Rock Island; grandchildren, Wendy (Dominick) Morone, Kelly (Travis) Strupp, Michael Brozovich and Katie Heber; great-grandchildren, Meikel, Max, Payton and Abigail; one brother, Richard (Jo) Pegg, Galconda, Ill.; special sister-in-law, Phyllis Pegg; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. A special thanks to her niece Kathy Rowe for her love and care. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Elra Pegg Jr. and Keith Pegg; one sister, Norma L. Willet; and one nephew, Richard "Keith" Pegg.
Special thanks are extended to the staff of Hope Creek Care Center for the loving and compassionate care given to our Mother.
