COLONA -- Linda Teichman should retain her position as Colona city clerk after capturing 71 percent of Tuesday's Democratic primary election.

She has no challenger in the April 9 consolidated election.

According to unofficial results supplied on Tuesday night by Henry County Clerk Barb Link, Ms. Teichman received 333 votes and Sena Ropp had 132.

"I would like to thank my family and friends for their support and their vote," said Ms. Teichman. "I love Colona and I look forward to serving four more years as city clerk."

She said it was good to have more than 400 turn out to vote in the community of 5,099 on such a bad day.

Ms. Ropp was unavailable for comment.

By precinct, the results were:

-- Precinct 1: Ms. Teichman, 20, Ms. Ropp, 8
-- Precinct 2: Ms. Teichman, 62, Ms. Ropp, 13
-- Precinct 3: Ms. Teichman, 83, Ms. Ropp, 19
-- Precinct 4: Ms. Teichman, 87, Ms. Ropp, 48
-- Precinct 5: Ms. Teichman, 81, Ms. Ropp, 44.

Ms. Link said, even before Tuesday's snowstorm, the county planned to bring returns from Colona to Cambridge in a U-Haul truck rather than have election judges drive to Cambridge. She said she was in Colona most of the day to ensure everything went well, with precincts reporting to the Colona City Hall at the end of the day, rather than the county courthouse.
