Michael Malmstrom came out on top in the Democratic primary for South Moline Township Road Commissioner. Mr. Malmstrom took 55 percent of the vote in Tuesday's primary to beat Joanne Frederick and Dan Cogdill. He now moves forward to the April 9 general election, where he'll face Republican Bob Schulz. "This is just the first hurdle of the race," Mr. Malmstrom said. "I'm totally convinced that I can be a good road commissioner for the people that live along these roads." Ms. Frederick said it was unfortunate the snow struck on election day, but was pleased with her campaign."He'll do a good job," she said of Mr. Malmstrom. Incumbent road commissioner Tracy Best, a Republican, has decided not to seek re-election but is running for supervisor in South Moline against incumbent Democrat Connie Mohr-Wright.
