Team-wise, Annawan is the only one left among area Class 1A and 2A schools with a shot at a state girls' basketball championship, with the 28-2 Bravettes playing Gilman Iroquois West in Monday's Bloomington Super-Sectional.

But ahead of next weekend's IHSA state festivities in Normal, six of the area's top 3-point shooters will get their shot on the Redbird Arena floor as they qualified for the state finals in the annual Country Insurance Three-Point Showdown.

In 1A, Prophetstown's Cassie Reiley and Heather Strike both advanced out of the River Ridge Sectional in Hanover, with Ridgewood's Ashley Collins qualifying from the Oglesby Sectional at Illinois Valley Community College, where Annawan repeated as sectional champions.

Three more qualified in 2A, two coming from the Orion Sectional. Sherrard's Carly Adams and Rockridge's Cheyenne Bowman advanced to Thursday's preliminaries on the Illinois State University campus, where they will be joined by Morrison's Chelsea Eads, a qualifier from the Somonauk Sectional.

Preliminary shooting for 1A and 2A takes place between 5-6 p.m. Thursday evening at Redbird Arena, with the semifinals and finals set for Friday and timed around that day's Final Four schedule for both classes.
