Amos Johnson and Markel Richardson will continue to be football teammates next season in college.
The Rock Island pair announced Friday plans to play at NAIA William Penn University next season.
Johnson and Richardson are signing with the Iowa school Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Rock Island Field House lobby.
Also taking part in the signing ceremony is Jacqueline Twing.
The two-time Metro Volleyball Player of the Year, according to The Dispatch and The Rock Island Argus, Twing is taking her spiking talents to Peoria's Illinois Central Junior College.
Also getting recognition Wednesday will be Johnson's and Richardson's football teammate Derrick Willies, who recently inked with Division I Iowa at a high-school all-star game in Texas.
Twing earned first-team All-Western Big 6 Conference honors and second-team All-State accolades from the Champaign News-Gazette. The setter finished with a school-record 652 assists and led the Rocks to a school-record 30-6 mark last fall.
Johnson (honorable mention) and Richardson (first-team) also were All-Big 6 and first-team All-Metro performers last fall for the league champs.
Johnson rushed for 881 yards and a team-leading 11 touchdowns despite missing the last few games because of injury. Richardson had more than 500 multi-purpose yards and eight scores for the playoff qualifiers.
Johnson and Richardson are reuniting with former Rocks Travis Blecher, Jacob Davis and Cole McGinnis on an NAIA playoff qualifier. Twing joins a program that won the 2009 JUCO national title and had a pair of alums playing for Division I national qualifiers this season.
