A Davenport man who allegedly pointed a loaded handgun at himself and his wife on Sunday afternoon is charged in Scott County with intimidation with a dangerous weapon and domestic abuse or assault while displaying a weapon.
Anthony Demaie Jackson, 34, was arrested Sunday after a marital fight at his home allegedly escalated, according to court filings. During the dispute, Mr. Jackson, who police said was intoxicated, stuck the gun into his mouth, saying, "It's over and done," according to an affidavit filed with the Davenport Police Department.
He then walked onto a living room balcony and "fired a couple of shots" before returning inside to reload his gun, records state. Then, while his wife sat on a living room couch, Mr. Jackson strode across the room, grabbed her by the throat and "stuck the gun in her side," the affidavit claims.
Soon after, he walked to a nearby couch and fired a round into the sofa where his wife sat, coming within about two feet of her, records state. The bullet struck the top of the sofa and went into a wall shared with another apartment.
No one was injured in the incident, according to Assistant Davenport Police Chief Donald Schaeffer.
Mr. Jackson posted bond on Monday and was released from the Scott County Jail. He has an arraignment hearing scheduled today in Scott County Circuit Court.
