Tan Van Nguyen, 68, of Rock Island, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2810 5th Ave., Rock Island. Visitation is 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island.
Tan Van Nguyen was born Feb. 10, 1945, in Vietnam, a son of Tu Van Nguyen and Ngan Thi Nguyen. He married Kinh Thi Nguyen on Jan. 29, 1972, in Vietnam.
He came to the United States in 1975 and moved to Rock Island in 1979. He had worked as a machine operator at Nichols Aluminum, Davenport.
Tan was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island, and also attended Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport. He had a great work ethic and enjoyed hard work. Tan had a great love for his family and enjoyed being with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Kinh; children, Phong "Michael" Nguyen, Rock Island, Nam (Rachel) Nguyen, Davenport, Dieumy "Mimi" (Marco) Byrne, Moline, Vu (Ruth) Nguyen, Des Moines, Viet (Tracy) Nguyen, Wisconsin, Khuong-Nhi Nguyen, Chicago, Diem Chi Nguyen, California, and Jeanly (Sean) Crowe, Macomb; 14 grandchildren, Samantha, Joseph, Marco Alex, Logan, Adrian, Adam, Lauren, Mara, Jaden, Temperance, Max, Vinh, Isaac and Elijah; sisters, Tien Thi Nguyen and Dang Thi Nguyen, both of Vietnam; sister-in-law, Nghia Vu Nguyen, and nephew, Thien Vu Nguyen, both of Minnesota; and cousin, Suc Nhu (Lan) Nguyen, of North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
