Gerald "Jerry" L. Lynch, 78, of Rock Island, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, in Rock Island.
Services for Mr. Lynch will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
Jerry was born on Aug. 1, 1934, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, a son of Lawrence and Cora Mc Beth Lynch. He married Jean O'Boyle on Oct. 3, 1959, in Chicago.
Jerry worked as a roofer for Harrington Roofing, Moline, for over 30 years; retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Roofers Local No. 32, Rock Island. Jerry enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, dancing, country music and NASCAR. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; children, Cheryl (Pete) Ortiz, Coal Valley, Nancy (Terry) VanWinkle, Leesburg, Fla., Gerald "Jay" (Sandra) Lynch, Davenport; a daughter-in-law, Claudia Arneson, DeSoto, Kan.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Roger (Marsha) Lynch, Oskaloosa; and sisters, Josephine (Ted) Beaver, Knoxville, Iowa, and Rosie Bradley, San Jose, Calif.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael Arneson; four brothers; and two sisters.
