Trinity holds pre-diabetes program
Trinity will present the diabetes prevention program "Small Steps, Big Rewards" from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14 & 21. This is a two-part class designed to help participants make small changes in their daily lives that will in turn help them prevent diabetes.
According to the American Diabetes Association, 70 million people are affected by pre-diabetes. Pre-diabetes is a condition that comes before diabetes. It means that blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not high enough to be diabetes. Taught by certified diabetes educators, this program will include an overview of what pre-diabetes is, risk assessment and management, healthy eating tips, behavior awareness, stress management and more.

Trinity holds Free heart screenings
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women. High blood pressure, high LDL cholesterol, and smoking are key risk factors for heart disease. According to the Centers for Disease Control 49 percent of Americans have at least one of these three risk factors. Learn your risk at Trinity's FREE heart screenings.
Screenings will take place from 5-7 p.m. on the following dates:
· Monday, Feb. 18, in the Jardine Auditorium at Trinity Rock Island
· Tuesday, Feb. 19, in the Education Center at Trinity Moline
· Monday, Feb. 25, in Conference Room A/B at Trinity Bettendorf
Screening includes blood pressure, height, weight, BMI and risk assessment.
There is no cost or need to register for the screening.
