Thomas L. "Tip" Price, 74, of rural Geneseo, passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.
A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at the Geneseo Chapel of Vandemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Rev. Christopher Buschre will officiate.
Visitation for Thomas will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Geneseo Chapel of Vandemore Funeral Homes and Cremation Services. Per his request, cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be left to the Tip Price Memorial Fund.
Thomas was born on March 16, 1938, in Wyoming, Ill., to John Price and Helen Frisby Price Cheeseman. On Oct. 7, 1983, he was united in marriage to Anda Gehn at St. Johns in Edford Township, Ill.
Thomas was a butcher. He then worked as a meat inspector for the Department of Agriculture State of Illinois for several years, from which he retired.
Thomas enjoyed spending time with his family, playing poker and horse racing. He also enjoyed spending time with his dog, Precious, and traveling.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Anda; a son, Brad Price, Warren, Mich.; a stepson, Kurt (Kathy) Gehn, Geneseo; two daughters, Sherry (Chuck) Miller, Colona, Tracy (Greg) VanDusen, Silvis; one stepdaughter, Kelly Helg, Geneseo; one daughter-in-law, Becky Price, Coal Valley; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; four brothers, Bill (Judy) Price, Toulon, Harry (Judy) Price, Oklahoma City, Okla., Jim (Joyce) Price Wyoming, Bob (Wanda) Price, Oquawka; a sister, Sharon Gutierre, Montclair, Calif. He is preceded in death by his parents; a son: Barry Price; a stepson-in-law, Christopher Helg; one brother and four sisters.
