(Quad Cities) – New Kingdom Trailriders, the only therapeutic equine assisted program for special-needs individuals and military veterans within a 50-mile radius of the Quad Cities, will hold its annual fundraising banquet on Thursday, February 28 at 5:45 p.m. at Circa '21 Dinner Playhouse, 1828 3rd Ave., Rock Island, IL.

New Kingdom Trailriders uses horses and volunteers to provide therapeutic recreational, competitive and educational opportunities for people with special needs due to multiple Sclerosis, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, autism, stroke, injury, hearing or sight impairment, ADD, mental, learning or behavioral disorders,PTSD, or other conditions.

"New Kingdom Trailriders helps people develop mentally, physically, psychologically and socially by doing activities that are a fun and motivational alternative to clinical therapy," says Bob Doerfer, Chair, New Kingdom Trailriders. "We work with 60 to 80 riders per year ages three through adult, and over 100 volunteers help us do this," Doerfer continued.

The organization's annual fundraising banquet, themed Together We Are Able, is free to attend and includes dinner as well as a LIVE and silent auction.

"Being a unique organization to the region, this event is an opportunity for people to learn more about NKT, how others can help, and the positive impact equine assisted therapy can have on our clients," says Doerfer.
