DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) — Iowa jury selection is scheduled to begin for a 40-year-old Illinois man charged with manslaughter in a fatal boating accident on the Mississippi River. The Dubuque Telegraph Herald says Kent Hoffman, of Galena, Ill., also is charged with operating a boat while intoxicated, causing a fatal accident. He's pleaded not guilty to both charges. Assistant Dubuque County Attorney Michael Whalen says jury selection is set to begin Monday. Authorities say Hoffman was driving a boat that ran over another boat in Schmidt Harbor in Dubuque on the night of Sept. 1. The driver of the other boat, 45-year-old James Sutton, of Maquoketa, Iowa, was killed. Lori Fey was a passenger in Sutton's boat but was not seriously injured.
