R.I. Police Department Assessment for Accreditation

The Rock Island Police Department is pleased to announce that an On-site Assessment for Accreditation will be conducted on January 31st and February 1st, 2013. During this time trained assessors from peer agencies across the state of Illinois will conduct inspections, policy reviews, and audits of the police department. These representatives of the Illinois Chiefs of Police Association will be examining the department to insure that the Rock Island Police Department meets the standards of the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ILEAP).
Chief VenHuizen and the assessment team invite the public to voice opinions, experiences, and provide input to the assessors. They want to hear about citizen experiences with the Rock Island Police Department and listen to opinions about the police department regarding accreditation status. On February 1st from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. citizens may call (309)732-2550 to speak privately with the ILEAP representatives. A member of the assessment team will speak with the caller in private. Opinions and issues will be heard by the assessors and later forwarded to Chief VenHuizen.
Any citizen's comments, concerns, opinions, and experiences can also be e-mailed to the assessor team via ILEAP@rigov.org.
Once the On-Site Assessment visit is completed the assessors will confer, develop an on-site report, and meet with the Illinois Chiefs of Police Association's ILEAP Council to discuss the assessment findings. The Council will then vote to determine if the Rock Island Police Department has met the professional standards that form the esteemed title of accreditation.
