Ralph Edmunds, 88, of Silvis, died on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military honors will be performed by Moline American Legion Post No. 246. Memorials may be made to Honor Flight.
Ralph was born on Oct. 28, 1924, in Bevier, Mo., the son of Miles and Mary Durham Edmunds. He married Betty J. Moss on Aug. 19, 1945, in Lexington, S.C. She preceded him in death on Aug. 27, 2011, in Rock Island.
Ralph worked for 34 years in product repair for American Air Filter Corp. and later became self employed in heating and air conditioning. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II and attended Heritage Church. Ralph was an avid fisherman who enjoyed traveling and camping. Above all, he loved being with his family.
Survivors include his children, Cheryl (Paul) Hawotte, East Moline, Ginger (Kevin) Varble, East Moline, Bob (Vicki) Edmunds, Orion; grandchildren, Kevin (Rachelle) Hawotte, Scot Hawotte, Angie Miller, Ben (Angela) Hawotte, Shannon Edmunds, Wade (Melissa) Mc Daniel, Michael (Michelle) Edmunds, Chelsie Mc Daniel, Jodi (Troy) Barton, Juli Varble; great-grandchildren, Ali Hawotte, Macy Hawotte, Kayley Miller, Ashlynn Hawotte, Jacob Edmunds, Tiffany Miller, Schylar Hawotte, Dylan Klomps, Jamison Hawotte, Thea Brown, Thomas Mc Daniel, Zeke Rogerson, Brannen Taylor, Kyler Mc Daniel; great-great-granddaughter, Savannah Jean Collings; brothers, Gene Edmunds, Colona, John Edmunds, Silvis; brother-in-law, Albert Sandner, Macon, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his three brothers and three sisters.
