Comedian Joshua Kahn will compete in a stand-up comedy contest at The Speakeasy this Friday.
First time comedian Wayne Lyter and his stand-up pal, Joshua Kahn, held a "Face-Off" contest last July at The Speakeasy. Mr. Lyter's team lost and he was forced by Mr. Kahn to parade around The District wearing nothing but a thong and shoes, and was filmed by a clown (yes, the video is on YouTube).

Now, Mr. Lyter wants revenge, and he and Mr. Kahn return with another "Stand-Up Face-Off"Friday at 8 p.m. at The Speakeasy, 1818 3rd Ave., Rock Island. Both men are members of The Blacklist and hosts of Bottoms Up Quad City Burlesque.

The comics lead teams of three stand-up comedians (and a wildcard performer) into a comedy battle royal. The comedians will go head to head on stage in four rounds, while being distracted or challenged at any time by the other team's leader. In the end, the audience judges whose team did the best.

Examples of distractions last time were a bikini-clad girl dancing in front of the comic, and aclown stealing the comedian's drinks, Mr. Lyter said this week. "In asense, we're each trying to sabotage the other's comedians," he said, noting there will be comics coming fromSpringfield, St. Louis and Omaha.

Mr. Lyter and Mr. Kahn expect a sell-out crowd Friday, and if they get it, they may add a Saturday show, with more local comedians.Tickets are $10 per person, and doorsopen at 7 p.m. For more information, visit circa21.com and click on "The Speakeasy."
