U.S. Rep. Cheri Bustos, D-East Moline, has been appointed to the Farm Commodities and Risk Management Subcommittee and the Livestock and Rural Development Subcommittee of the U.S. House Committee on Agriculture.
Rep. Bustos was named to the House Committee on Agriculture on Jan. 4 and the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure in December.
"I will make sure we have a strong crop insurance program and our rural communities are growing and thriving," a statement from Rep. Bustos said. "Through my service on the House Committee on Agriculture, I'll make sure our region has a seat at the table in Washington."
The General Farm Commodities and Risk Management Subcommittee focuses on programs and markets related to soybeans, corn, feed grains, oilseeds and other crops grown in Illinois.
It also focuses on the Commodity Credit Corporation, risk management and crop insurance and commodity exchanges.
The Livestock, Rural Development and Credit Subcommittee focuses on livestock, dairy, poultry, meat and other commodities, including the inspection, marketing and promotion of such commodities, as well as rural development, farm security and family farming matters.
