Mamie L. Boleen, 88, of Geneseo, passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Hillcrest Home in Geneseo.
Per her request, cremation rites have been accorded and a graveside inurnment service will be held at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Memorials may be directed to Hillcrest Home or a charity of the donor's choice. Vandemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Geneseo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mamie was born Aug. 9, 1924, in East St. Louis, Ill., the daughter of Harry and Helen Myrtle McCredie Wallar. She was a graduate of Centralia High School in Centralia and was united in marriage to Beverlee S. Boleen in November 1941, in Geneseo. He preceded her in 1990.
Mamie was an optometrist lab assistant for 35 years for Dr. Zimmerman and later worked as a sales associate for both GWK Enterprises and Lambin Jewelers in Geneseo. She belonged to First United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include one son, Monte Boleen, Geneseo; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Grace Auberry, Centralia.
Mamie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Hilton Boleen; and one brother, Herbert.
