Ruth I. (Horn) Verbeke, 206 NW 6th St., Aledo, will celebrate her 90th birthday with a family gathering on Feb. 2 at her home. Please join in a card shower.
Ruth Ione Horn was born Feb. 2, 1923, in Wisconsin, and attended schools in the Hamlet area. She married Henry J. Verbeke on Aug. 26, 1939. They retired to Aledo after farming in the Mercer County area in 1985. Henry "Hank" passed away in 2008.
Children include Charles "Butch" (Veranita) Verbeke, Aledo; Charlotte Eaton, Milan; Alice Parker, Viola; Mary (Bob) DeShane, Milan; Janet (Terry) King, Sherrard; William Verbeke, Arizona; Daniel "Sam" (Glenda) Verbeke, Milan; and Mike (Chris) Verbeke, Reynolds. She has 15 grandchildren and several great- and great-great grandchildren.
She enjoys her family, watching the Cubs, country music, reading and her plants.
