The Sherrard village board this week approved a liquor license for Fyre Lake Golf Course, according to Mayor Terry Ayers.

Mr. Ayers said the village is glad to see the Fyre Lake project moving forward. "I didn't want to see it turned back into farmland," he said. "It's a beautiful golf course."

Trustees also approved video gambling in village liquor establishments for a fee of $25 per unit per year, for up to five units, Mayor Ayers said.

For cost savings in 2013 the village is moving from holding two meetings a month to one, with that meeting to be at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of each month.
