Rocky, Wethersfield double the fun again in state rankings

For the second consecutive week, Rock Island and Wethersfield had both its boys' and girls' basketball teams ranked in The Associated Press poll. The Rocks appeared in the Class 4A poll and Wethersfield sits in Class 1A.

Rocky is rated seventh in each poll conducted by a statewide panel of media members, with the girls tied with River Forest Trinity. The two teams have a combined record of 34-5. Wethersfield is tied with St. Anne in the boys' poll and the girls are rated ninth.

On the girls' side, Sherrard sits eighth in Class 2A and Riverdale is receiving votes. In Class 1A, Annawan is second and Prophetstown is seventh. Rockridge (fourth) and Monmouth-Roseville (10th) are ranked in the Class 2A boys' poll.

Chicago Whitney Young (Class 4A), Lombard Montini (3A), Champaign St. Thomas More (2A) and Freeport Aquin (1A) are ranked No. 1 in the girls' poll. Whitney Young (4A), Chicago Morgan Park (3A), Harrisburg (2A) and Mason City Illini Central (1A) are the top-ranked boys' teams.
