Don Hargrave, of Coyne Center, Milan, will celebrate his 85th birthday on Jan. 8, 2013.
Don was born and raised in Flora, Ill. He retired in 1985 after 35 years of service at the Rock Island Arsenal and the U.S. Army Armament Command.
Don is an Army veteran and was recalled to active duty during the Korean War. He married Marilyn "Lynn" Boyd in Rock Island in 1951. They moved to Coyne Center in 1955, where they still reside.
They have a daughter, Tj Hargrave, Scottsdale, Ariz.; and two sons, Thomas Hargrave, Glendale, Ariz.; and Roger (Dea), Coyne Center. Another daughter, Debbie Lynn, is deceased. There are six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren to keep him young. Don has enjoyed serving his community since 1956 by accepting leadership positions in the Water Association, the Fire Protection/EMS District and the CCC Sanitary District, but is now fully retired and enjoying life.
