A Port Byron woman, accused of repeatedly stabbing her boyfriend at their home Sunday, faces felony counts of aggravated domestic battery and aggravated battery.

Penny A. Brewer, 49, of 2507 214th St., No. 75, made her initial appearance Monday in Rock Island County Circuit Court.

She remained in the Rock Island County Jail Wednesday evening on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Tuesday.

Police were called early Sunday toGenesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, after learning that Ms. Brewer's boyfriend, Robert J. Cruz, had been admitted with serious stab wounds to the head, face, arms and knees.

Rock Island County Sheriff Jeff Boyd said the injuries were not life-threatening, but Mr. Cruz did require knee surgery. He was released Tuesday, a hospital representative said.

Sheriff Boyd said the stabbing is believed to have stemmed from a domestic dispute."We do believe that alcohol was involved."

Ms. Brewer, who police said did not have any visible injuries, was arrested by police soon after the incident.
