Funeral services for Scott H. Hoereth, 69, of Moline, will be 1 p.m. Friday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline.
Burial will be at Cordova Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 6:45 p.m.
Mr. Hoereth died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at his home. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church.
Scott was born April 7, 1943, in Beech Grove, Ind., the son of Robert and Virginia Hankins Hoereth. He had served in the Civil Air Patrol. He married Barbara Youngs Aug. 31, 1963. He later married Mari (Tingley) Stropes June 29, 1985, in Rock Island.
Over the years he had been a salesman for several local auto dealerships and had worked for Moline Body, Moline, and Koenig Body and Equipment, Peoria, and finally owned and operated Ideal Equipment, Moline, retiring in 2007. He devoted the rest of his life to Cursillo and the Knights of Columbus, where he was grand knight.
Scott was a big-hearted person who never knew a stranger. He had been a member of the Optimist Club, active in Little League Baseball and Dad's Club.
Survivors include his wife, Mari Hoereth, Moline; daughters, Heidi Stanley, Davenport, Lesley (Doug) DeLille, Moline, and Dana Hoereth, Rock Island; sons, Gregory Hoereth, Overland Park, Kan., Lonny (Traci) Stropes, Albany, and Christopher Hoereth, Rock Island; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Deborah (John) Higgins, Greenwood, Ind.; and a vast extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
