Keith I. Walter, 92, of Geneseo, passed away peacefully Dec. 31, 2012, at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Long Term Care Unit, Geneseo.
Private graveside funeral services for Keith will be held Saturday, Jan. 5, at the Gunter Cemetery in Salt Lick, Ky., next to his wife, Roxanne. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be sent in Keith's name to the Henry County Humane Society in Geneseo, or the Midland First Church of God in Salt Lick, KY, 40371. Vandemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Geneseo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Keith was born on Dec. 25, 1920, in Bettendorf to Robert O. and Inez Walter. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army and served in World War II, where he reached the rank of staff sergeant.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Bettendorf; American Legion, DeWitt, Iowa; and the Geneseo Country Club. Keith retired in 1998, after operating his own electrical business in Geneseo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and his wife, Roxanne (Hunt), who passed away in 2001.
He is survived by his two nephews, Hal W. Walter (Jan) and Terry A. Walter (Patricia).
