A Rock Island man facing felony charges of unlawful possession, with intent to deliver, 30-500 grams of cannabis and 1-15 grams of cocaine, as well as unlawful possession of ammunition by a felon made an initial appearance on Thursday in Rock Island County Circuit Court.

Ryan McRae Hickman, 38, of 917 22nd 1/2 Ave., Rock Island, remained in the Rock Island County Jail on Thursday night on a $100,000 bond. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled on Jan. 2.

According to police, Rock Island County Sheriff's deputies stopped a vehicle driven by Mr. Hickman shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday in the 2200 block of 9th Street in Rock Island. He was issued tickets for driving without using the required lights and driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Charges indicate he allegedly also was found to have drugs and eight rounds of .38 caliber ammunition, which was illegal because of his prior felony conviction in 2010 for promoting a dog fight in Rock Island County.

Mr. Hickman was arrested shortly after the traffic stop.If convicted of the cocaine possession, a Class 1 felony, he faces a mandatory sentence of four to 15 years in prison.
