An East Moline woman accused of ripping open her boyfriend's scrotum during a Sunday fight made an initial appearance Monday in Rock Island County Circuit Court, where she was charged with a aggravated domestic battery, a Class 2 felony.

Brandy Elaine Colton, 35, of 333 51st Ave., East Moline, posted 10 percent of a $25,000 bond Monday and was released from the Rock Island County Jail.

Her boyfriend, who also sustained facial scratches from the incident, was treated at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, and released, according to a hospital representative.

The victim's injuries stemmed from an altercation at his residence in the 400 block of 34th Avenue, East Moline, around 3:45 a.m. Sunday, said East Moline Police Chief Victor Moreno. An argument between the pair turned physical and Ms. Colton, who had been drinking that evening, allegedly tore open her boyfriend's scrotum with her bare hand, the chief said.

Police dispatched to the residence after the incident arrested Ms. Colton, who did not appear to have any visible injuries.

Chief Moreno said his department often receives calls of domestic disturbances, but rarely encounters cases with such a "unique injury."

Ms. Colton has been ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim pending a Dec. 26 preliminary hearing.
