Toast End of World with Mo Mallard Friday; Ugly Holiday Sweater Contest Saturday
MOLINE, Ill. (December 18, 2012) – The Quad City Mallards will welcome Christmas with a pair of unique evenings this weekend- Mo Mallard's Toast to the End of the World when the Mallards meet the Tulsa Oilers Friday night at 7:05 p.m. and an Ugly Holiday Sweater Contest when the Mallards and Oilers collide again Saturday evening at 7:05 p.m.
Friday night, in accordance with the ancient Mayan prophesy predicting the end of days on that date, Mallard mascot Mo will make his toast to the end of days during the third period. Also in preparation for the end times, Mo has cleared out his vast underground bunker and thus provided a wide variety of Mallards prizes old, new and in between that will be given away at that game.
"Hopefully our Quad City faithful can make it out to Friday night's game as this quite possibly could be one of the last hockey games played on earth if everything goes according to the Mayan prophesy," said Mallards executive vice president Ryan Simmons. "In preparation for the end of the world we discovered Mo Mallard has a hoarding problem and as a result our storage bunker was filled with hundreds or prizes and promotional items from years past. We've all agreed we need to get these things out to our fans- and make more room in our survival bunker."
In addition to the mass Mallard prize giveaway, Jimmy John's will distribute their famous cups to the first 1,000 fans through the doors of the i wireless Center for Friday night's game. Fans attending the game will also have the opportunity to purchase appropriately apocalyptic beverages at the i wireless Center's Tiki Bar- Prophecy Prosecco Punch for those 21 and older as well as non-alcoholic Armageddon Black Cherry Chill.
In the unlikely event the world still exists on Saturday night, the Mallards will celebrate the greatest holiday tradition of them all: the ugly sweater. Fans are encouraged to wear their most fantastically ugly holiday sweaters to the game and a panel of celebrity judges will choose the ugliest of the ugly with the "winner" receiving a night in an i wireless Center suite at a Mallards game. To the winner will also go a game-worn Mallards sweater- Mike Hellyer's number 25, just in time for the twenty-fifth- to put on over the surely abominable Christmas sweater he or she will be wearing.
Tickets for this weekend's games- and for all remaining Mallards regular season home games- can be purchased in person at the i wireless Center ticket office, at Ticketmaster outlets, through www.ticketmaster.com or through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000. The ticket office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on game days from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period.
The Mallards' new Partial Punch Plan is also still available. The Partial Punch Plan provides flexibility and affordability- each Punch Plan punch card can be redeemed for ten tickets- whether those tickets are for ten different games, all for the same game or anything in between- subject to availability. Partial Punch Plans can be had for as little as $70 for youth 12 and under. For more ticket package information, fans can call the Mallards at 309-277-1364.
