Letter: Tea Party voter challenges Bustos to outshine Schilling

Comment on this story

This is an abbreviated version of the letter I sent to Congresswoman-elect, Cheri Bustos. I'm sure she has been very busy, but I am disappointed to not have heard back.

Dear Mrs. Bustos:

I congratulate you on your recent election. I'll hope and pray that you will fight to represent the people of the Illinois 17th in the best manner possible.
I have included a tea bag. I wanted to send you one for you to remember Bobby Schilling who is supported by the Tea Party.

Bobby did an outstanding job representing our great district in his first two years in Congress. The list goes on and on, but I'm sure you already know his great accomplishments. He understands that it's all about leading by example and working for a cause bigger than ourselves.

I challenge you to outperform what Bobby Schilling did in his first term. This includes, but is not limited to working across the aisle, not always voting with your party, cutting your office budget, rejecting the congressional pension and health care plan, etc.

If you can do this, then I will definitely reconsider who I will support in 2014.
I wish you the best of luck in what seems like it will be your one and only term in Congress. And I do challenge you to outshine what Congressman Schilling has done.

The Tea Party is fired up and we plan on returning this seat back to the people by getting Bobby Schilling back to Washington in 2014 (assuming that he runs again).

Best of luck in Congress, Mrs. Bustos, and best of luck in beating Bobby a second time. You will need it.

Sam Anderson,
Moline
