Diane Lindberg, representing the Andover Tourism Council, will help serve the soup during Andover's annual Christmas Walk Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012.
The 23rd annual Andover Christmas Walk will begin at 4:30 p.m. Saturday with a tree lighting ceremony and sing-along at the Andover Lake Park bandstand.

A vegetable beef and chili soup supper will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. at the American Legion building, located just east of the park on Illinois 81.

Santa Claus will be at the Legion building to visit with children, and there will be crafts to make, refreshments served and music by Deanna Swanson.

There will be a miniature tree decorating contest with a silent auction of the decorated trees as well as other Christmas decorations. Anyone interested in entering the competition should contact Judy Jacobson, (309) 521-7262.

The candle-lit Jenny Lind Chapel will be filled with Christmas music to be presented by Party of Four, a saxophone and clarinet quartet, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Free wagon rides around the park will be offered to visitors to see the lighted displays and luminaries on the walkways. Free refreshments will be available at Casey's General Store during the hours of the walk, and all events are free of charge with the exception of the soup supper.

The event is sponsored by the Andover Tourism Council and Andover Village Board.
