According to the newspaper, the Rock Island/Milan School Board intends to sell the beautiful old Audubon School to Fareway for a new grocery store.

Within 20 city blocks there are already three majors, including Jewel, Aldi and Hy-Vee. The Rock Island Market already had to go out of business, and remember what happened with Ace Hardware?

I have grandkids who attended Audubon so it is sentimental for me, but that aside, how can four major grocery stores all survive?

I realize about competition, they had trouble finding a buyer and it is not my problem, but really, what were they thinking?
