Thanksgiving holiday alters area schedules

The Thanksgiving holiday will change the schedule for services in several Quad-Cities area communities.

Bettendorf -- City offices and Herbert D. Goettsch Community Center will be closed Thursday and Friday.

There will be no garbage, bulky waste, recycling or yard waste collection Thursday. Residents whose regularly scheduled collection day is Thursday will have collection on Friday. Residents whose regularly scheduled collection day is Friday will have collection on Saturday. The period when no yard stickers are required for yard waste bags ends Saturday. The last leaf drop-off under the Interstate 74 bridge is Saturday. The final day to take yard waste to the compost facility for free is Sunday. For more details call (563) 344-4088.

Transit and The Loop buses will not operate Thursday but will resume its normal schedule on Friday.

The Family Museum will be closed Thursday with regular hours resuming Friday. No classes will be held through Saturday.

The library closes at 5:30 p.m. today and will remain closed until 9 a.m. Friday. .

The Life Fitness Center will close at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and will remain closed until 5:30 a.m. Friday.

Palmer Hills Golf Course will be open until 2 p.m. Thursday and on Friday, weather permitting. The Palmer Grill will be open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, weather permitting.

Davenport -- City offices, the Public Works Center, the Parks and Recreation Department, all library branches, Vander Veer Conservatory, the Adler Theatre box office, the compost facility and the police front desk, lobby and records office will be closed Thursday and Friday.

The River's Edge will be closed Thursday and will reopen at 6 a.m. Friday. Public skating will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.

Timed parking will not be enforced Thursday or Friday. There will be no charge to park Thursday at the Redstone parking ramp, 101 Main St.; the Harrison Street parking ramp, 202 Harrison St.; and the RiverCenter parking ramp, 102 E. 2nd St. The RiverCenter parking ramp will be open for hourly parking Friday during Festival of Trees.

CitiBus service will not be provided Thursay. Regular week-day service will resume Friday.

Garbage, recycling, bulky waste and yard waste collection for Thursday and Friday will be one day later. Free yard waste pickup ends Saturday; yard waste placed for curbside collection after this date requires a sticker on each bag. East Moline -- City offices will be closed Thursday and Friday. Thursday and Friday garbage will be collected today. There will be no yard waste collected this week. The last day of yard waste collection will be on Nov. 28.

Moline -- City offices will be closed Thursday and Friday. Garbage collection after today will be one day late.

Rock Island -- City offices will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Refuse and recycling collection after today will be one day late. The yardwaste collection schedule will not be changed. The free leaf collection schedule after today will be one day late; the collection ends Nov. 30. The drop-off center at Millennium Waste, 13606 Knoxville Road, Milan will be open 7 a.m. to noon Saturday. on
Saturday from 7 a.m. to 12 noon.

MetroLINK -- The Rock Island County Metropolitan Mass Transit has announced MetroLINK will be closed Thursday with no bus routes running. Regular schedules will resume Friday. For more details, call(309) 788-3360.

Illinois Secretary of State -- All offices and facilities will be closed Thursday and Friday. Driver service facilities normally open Tuesday through Saturday will reopen Saturday. People also can visit cyberdriveillinois.com, to change an address, register to become an organ donor or renew license plate stickers if they have received a renewal form by mail.

University of Illinois Extension --The Henry, Mercer, Rock Island and Stark counties office will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Visitors Centers -- All Quad-Cities visitors centers will be closed Thursday.

The Quad City International Airport Visitor Center will reopen Friday for its regular hours. The visitor center atthe Iowa 80 Trucking Museum will reopen at 9 a.m. Friday for its regular hours.

Visitor centers closed Friday include:

-- Union Station, 102 S. Harrison St., Davenport

-- Bass Street Landing, 1601 River Drive, Suite 110,Moline

--The District, 226 17th St., Suite 11, Rock Island.

All three will reopen at 10 a.m. Saturday with regular hours. Thanksgiving Day and Friday; open 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Saturday; closed Sunday.This also is the last weekend the three centers will be open on Saturday until the spring.
