Police investigate gunshots Tuesday afternoon in Rock Island

Rock Island police are investigating a shots-fired incident early Tuesday afternoon near the corner of 9th Street and 17th Avenue.

No one was injured and apparently no property was damaged, said Rock Island police Sgt. Larry Hufford.

Officers on the scene raked through leaves and said some shell casings and other evidence were found. A bullet hole was found in a nearby telephone pole.

Officers said the investigation is continuing.
