Leland and Katie Albertson
Leland and Katie Albertson, Milan, will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on Dec. 10, 2012.
Mr. and Mrs. Albertson married in 1947 in Mountain Home, Ark.
Leland trained in Louisiana for the Air Force as a B-17 tail gunner. He was stationed overseas in occupied Erding, Germany, where he flew photography missions on a B-29 and trucked German civilian employees to the base before returning home in 1946. He worked in the Quad-Cities for Alcoa and Case before retiring from Eagle Signal with 31 years of service. Leland then worked for Ridgecrest Retirement Village until becoming a cancer survivor at age 65.
Katie Albertson worked in the delivery room as a technician at Moline Public Hospital for almost 20 years, where she was present for the births of nieces, nephews and grandchildren. After the hospital closed, she worked for Franciscan Medical Center in central supply for nearly 15 years before retiring.
The Albertsons are the parents of two sons, Leland Jr., Rock Island; and Richard (Marla) Albertson, Moline. The Albertsons have five grandchildren, Andrew Albertson, Erin Randall, Kelly Banik, Rick Albertson and W.J. Albertson. They have 13 great-grandchildren, Abbey, Alex, Audrey, Austin, Bailey, Cameron, Courtney, Hillary, Megan, Michael, Riley, Sophie and Victoria, and one in heaven, Landry.
Leland and Katie enjoyed bowling, fishing, music, yardwork, creating woodcrafts and still like playing cards and spending time with their family.
