Superstorm Sandy relief drive to be held in Davenport Nov. 27-28

Davenport Community Schools will host a Super Storm Sandy Relief Drive from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00p.m. Tuesday, November 27 and from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2012. Wilson ElementarySchool students sent a school bus full of supplies to the east coast to aid in relief efforts. When area businessessaw what a group of elementary students could accomplish, they decided to help expand these efforts. HawkeyeMovers, Atlas Van Lines and the Downtown Davenport Partnership have partnered with Davenport CommunitySchools to host a Super Storm Sandy Relief Drive.
Hawkeye Movers has donated a tractor-trailer to transport donations to a drop-off site on Long Island, Rockaway,and Staten Island. Monetary donations will be distributed through Occupy Sandy Relief www.occupysandy.org
501(c3) donations are tax deductible.
Students from the JROTC Marine Corps programs representing North, Central, Kimberly Center East and WestHigh Schools will be assisting at the drop off sites.

Tuesday, November 27:
8:00-11:45 am Wilson Elementary, 2002 N. Clark St.
12:15-1:00 pm Jackson Elementary, 1307 Wisconsin St.
2:00-3:45 pm Monroe Elementary and Smart Intermediate, 1934 West 5th Street,
4:00-6:00 pm Downtown Partnership
Downtown Partnership Office, Main & Second Sts.
Wednesday, November 28:
8:00-9:20 am Harrison Elementary, 1032 West 53rd Street
9:30-10:30am Sudlow Intermediate & Washington Elementary, East Pleasant St. (1 block Northof Locust St.)
11:00-Noon Adams Elementary & Williams Intermediate parking lot, 3040 N. Division St.
12:15-1:00 JB Young K-8, 1702 Main Street
2:30-3:30 pm Garfield Elementary, 902 East 29th Street
3:45-4:45 pm Eisenhower Elementary, 2827 Jersey Ridge Road
Donations needed include:
• Supplies for reconstruction including plumbing and electrical supplies
• Flashlights and flashlight batteries
• Gallon Ziploc bags
• Cleaning supplies (brooms, flat shovels, mops, face masks, goggles, work gloves, hard hats, hydrogenperoxide, white vinegar)
• Baby/toddler food and formula
• Duct tape and scotch tape
• Toiletries: deodorants, feminine hygiene products (tampons), soap, shampoo
• Can openers
• Fluorescent pink spray paint
• Children's toys
Clothing is not needed at this time.
