Bloomington baby-sitter accused of child abuse

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) — A Bloomington woman has been arrested on charges she fractured the skull of a 5-month-old girl she was baby-sitting. The (Bloomington) Pantagraph reports 35-year-old Sandy Lea Herman was charged with aggravated battery. According to charging documents, the child was injured sometime between Oct. 22 and 24. McLean County Assistant State's Attorney Adam Ghrist said the girl has been released from the hospital. He said Bloomington police are still investigating. Herman is being held in jail in lieu of a more than $30,000 bond.
