The woman who died in a Thursday accident in Davenport has been identified as Lisa McDaniel, 24, of Colona.
About 3 p.m. Thursday, Davenport police and firefighters responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Rockingham Road and Wapello Ave., involving a Watts Trucking garbage truck and Toyota Corolla.
According to a police department news release, the truck was eastbound on Rockingham and the Corolla, which was northbound on Wapello, turned left onto Rockingham and was hit on the driver's size by the garbage truck.
Both vehicles left the road and ended up in the median east of the intersection. The driver of the Corolla died as a result of injuries in the crash. The driver of the garbage truck, Michael Brown, 45, of Davenport, was not injured.
"Preliminary contributing cause of the crash at this time is believed to be Failure to Yield on the part of the driver of the Corolla as she pulled out from a stop sign crossing through the intersection," according to the news release.
The investigation is ongoing.
