Film showing in memory of Cary Grant at the Bettendorf Library

At 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 29, in the Bettendorf Public Library Program Room, the film "Gunga Din" (1933, 117 min.) will be shown in memory of Cary Grant who died in Davenport on this date 26 years ago. St. Ambrose University Professor Sandra Quinn will introduce the film which was inspired by a Rudyard Kipling poem. It is an adventure story about three English soldiers, battling the savage Punjabs in India, and their lowly water-bearer, Gunga Din, who longs to be a soldier. The movie stars Cary Grant, Douglas Fairbanks, Victor McLaglen, and Joan Fontaine and was directed by George Stevens. Light refreshments will be brownies baked according to a Katharine Hepburn family recipe.
